IG Markets, a world leading provider of Contracts for Difference (CFDs), is proud to be an Official Partner of Sky Pro Cycling for a second year in 2012- bringing together outstanding functionality in online trading with exceptional performance in competitive cycling.
2012 will be a very big year for the team. The team has set the ambitious goal of trying to win the Yellow and Green Jerseys at the Tour de France. The 28 man squad is stronger than ever before with some strong new signings including World Champion Mark Cavendish.
The season is already under way and the team is aiming to send the strongest team possible to every race.

IG Markets has teamed up with leading sports statistics provider Opta to produce a new pro cycling ranking system that will recognise the world’s leading cyclists. Races are graded on their prestige and importance to cycling fans, with outright wins rewarded far more than placings.
The Pro Cycling Index was launched in June 2011, and is based on a rolling system that takes into account events from the previous 12 months. You can view the latest rankings on the Pro Cycling Index page. In the FAQ section you are able to see the full points structure and the different race tiers.
The first year of the Pro Cycling Index has come to a close. Philippe Gilbert reigned supreme for most of the season at the top of the pile. The fact that he finished almost 3,000 points clear of his nearest rival, Alberto Contador, shows how impressive his season was.
During the off season we are working on ways to improve the index. The first improvement to the site has already happened. Now if you click on a riders name you are able to see their results and where they scored his points this season. Further improvements are on their way so keep checking back.

The 2011 Tour of Britain was IG Markets' first involvement in the Tour of Britain. The race was a great success with more people watching the race than ever before on TV and on the roadside.
IG Markets were the sponsors of the leader’s jersey for the race. It changed colour to gold to reflect the origins of the “IG” name. The IG Group, in its original form, was founded in 1974 as ‘Investors Gold Index’. We were the first to enable investors to trade the price of gold as an index, rather than trading the commodity itself.
Only two riders wore the gold jersey throughout the race. The first was sprint superstar Mark Cavendish who proved he was in top form leading up to his World championships win by winning the opening and closing stages. The other was Dutchman Lars Boom who took the jersey off Cavendish after stage 3 and held onto it for the rest of the race.

We are delighted to become Title Partner of Team IG Sigma Sport, which is a significant further investment in British cycling. The line up for 2012 includes a blend of new and returning riders, with two key additions to the team, potential Olympians Steven Burke, who is vying for a place on the GB Team Pursuit line up and Dan Craven who is on course to represent Namibia at London 2012.
